First-time competitors take to the mat at SouthWest Club Competition

SouthWest Judo Academy hosted its Club Competition on Sunday, 26 July, bringing members, families and volunteers together for an afternoon of judo.

Several athletes competed for the very first time, joining their clubmates to test their skills in a competition setting. There were great contests across every division and plenty of lessons to take back into training.

We are proud of every member who stepped onto the mat. Regardless of the results or medals, competing offers an opportunity to build confidence, put techniques into practice and discover areas for improvement.

Thank you to the parents and families who spent their Sunday supporting the competitors. Their encouragement helped create a positive atmosphere throughout the afternoon.

The competition was made possible by our volunteers, including referees, photographers, scoreboard operators, medical support, organisers and BBQ cooks. We are grateful to everyone who contributed their time and helped the day run smoothly.

Competitors are encouraged to watch their contests and reflect on what worked well and what they can improve. Our coaches will also draw on the competition to highlight key themes in the coming training sessions.

Congratulations to everyone who competed, and thank you to the SouthWest community for making the afternoon a success.
