SouthWest Judo Academy is a friendly, family-focused judo club in Port Kennedy, WA — with a clear pathway from your very first class all the way to national competition.
Who we are
A welcoming club for the whole family
We believe judo is for everyone. From tiny tots in our Kindy Throwers class to adults trying something new, and from first-timers to competitive athletes, our members train together in a safe, supportive and genuinely fun environment.
Judo teaches so much more than throws and holds. It builds confidence, discipline, fitness and resilience — and the respect and friendships formed on the mat last a lifetime.
Our qualified coaches are here to support every member on their own journey, whatever their goals.

Eishoji Dojo
Simon started Eishoji Dojo around 1992 at Safety Bay High School. It ran until 1996.

Back to competition
In 1996 Simon stopped coaching and returned to competition.

Kwinana Judo Club
From 1996 until about 2000, Simon assisted Bill at Kwinana Judo Club.

Became a partner
Simon became a partner in 2000.

Incorporated at Tranby College
SouthWest Judo Academy was incorporated in May 2005, based at Tranby College.

Livingstone Road, Rockingham
In March 2007 the club moved to Livingstone Road, Rockingham, with a 90 square metre mat area.

Sunlight Drive, Port Kennedy
In January 2010 the club moved to Sunlight Drive, Port Kennedy, with a 154 square metre mat area.

Crowley Street, Port Kennedy
In September 2017 the club moved to Crowley Street, Port Kennedy, with a 276 square metre mat area.
